About our Stable:
Serenity Mountain Stables was established in the fall of 2003. We sit on the top of Ingraham Mtn Rd., .7 miles off Rte 3, just minutes from downtown Augusta, China, Vassalboro and Sidney. We offer indoor and outdoor riding rings, a round pen and miles of trails easily accesable from the end of our dirt road.
About Us:
Kathleen Hagerty- Owner/Operator, Head Instructor for Serenity Mtn. and Angels Dancing with Horses, Inc.
Kathleen grew up with the love animals (especially horses) in her heart and soul. Instead of collecting Barbie dolls she had shelves full of horse statues. Her Uncle Freddy (Dr. Fredrick Clark DVM) the Veterinarian in the family would always take care of the strays brought home for mending and then took care of her larger animals.
Kathleen grew up in Nashua, N.H. and vacationed in Maine every summer in the York and Cumberland county area where her Mom was born and grew up. Kathleen worked at their family owned business (Hagerty's Flower Shop and Grocery Store) until her late twenties, this allowed her time to give lessons, train and ride horses. She always had a love for Maine and wanted to move here someday. That someday came in 1994 until today.
As a very young child her Mom & Dad took her to trail ride which led to riding lessons and her own horse. "God Bless my Mom she would drive me every afternoon after school and week-ends to be with my horse and then come back and get me." We lived in the city so it was a good 15-20 minutes one way. Kathleen started out riding and showing hunt seat, was a member of the Nashoba Valley Pony Club in Massachusetts, took lessons from the top dressage riders in Hamilton Massachusetts, and surrounding towns. Her discipline changed to mostly dressage in her twenties, and now she uses these same principles with her Tennessee Walkers and all horses she takes in for training. You must have the basics of ground work, proper lateral flexion and your horse coming on the bit and not under it.
Our favorite Veterinarian Clinic- http://www.annabessacookvet.com/ Dr Fay has provided our Veterinary care since we opened in January, 2004. We have laughed and shared tears together over the years. I trust his judgment as much as I did my Uncle Fred’s, DVM; he took care of all the strays I would bring to him growing up, as well as my horses.
Horse Transport - I would not use any other hauler for my transportation needs. Pat is easy to reach and always ready to help you make it work. Thank you for always taking the best of care of my precious cargo. http://wwww.equine-transport.net/
